Japanese Beetle Control
Japanese beetles, which are distinctive in their copper wings and metallic green bodies, are perhaps the most devastating pest for the plant species, as they feed on over 300 different species. Like many pests, a single Japanese beetle does not eat much, but a large group of them can destroy the leaves of a plant or tree.
When Japanese Beetles Are Most Active
Japanese beetles lay eggs in the soil in August, the eggs hatch and they spend 10 months feeding off vegetation under the ground, growing into an adult insect. They emerge in May to mate and feed off of leaves in the sun. Paffy’s combats these pests by spraying the ground and base of trees to kill the eggs and larvae, then we spray the visible pests on trees.
Japanese Beetle Treatments
First, we focus on treating the adult insects rather than solely targeting the larvae. Our expert technicians have discovered that this approach yields more effective results, as these adult pests can easily migrate from neighboring properties or nearby foliage, making it essential to address them directly. To execute this treatment, our technicians use a powerful sprayer to thoroughly treat the entire tree with a specialized chemical solution that is safe and will not cause any harm to the tree itself. Once this initial treatment is completed, they will carefully proceed to treat the base of the tree to eliminate any potential larvae that may be present in the soil or hiding in the crevices, ensuring comprehensive protection against these pests.
You can always tell when a tree or plant has been infested with Japanese beetles or has had them lurking nearby: the leaves often appear to be beautifully transformed into intricate doilies! However, this transformation is not a positive sign, as these pests can cause significant damage to the plants they invade. If you tend a garden, you're likely already aware of just how challenging these beetles can be to eliminate once they establish themselves. Thankfully, Paffy’s Pest Control is here to help you combat these relentless pests and restore the health and beauty of your garden.
If you’ve ever had these pests, give Paffy’s a call today. Japanese beetles are included in our annual plan, otherwise pricing will depend on the number of trees affected. 651-459-4654.
